KS2 Viking Day
18th July 2017
The Vikings invaded us!
Classes 3 & 4 met a viking, called Njal, sleeping in a tent and promptly woke him up. He was very surprised to see us and introduced us to his friend Sven. He brought us to his camp and spoke to us. The children were invited to be Vikings for the day.
The children learned about Viking clothes. We built a longship and rowed to Lindsfarne. We made a shield wall, raided a monastery and took 2 monks as prisoners.
In the afternoon, the children handled artefacts. They learned how the Vikings played board games and became married. The children then did jobs around a Viking home.
Everyone had a wonderful Viking experience.
