Reception Welcome Service

5th October 2018
On Friday 5th October we added a new service to our yearly calendar, The Reception Class  Welcome service. In order to welcome our reception children in to our school family, the Year 6 children prepared a special service that was held in church.
In September, each of our reception children were allocated a year 6 buddy. the idea is that they have a friendly face around school looking out for them. Our Year 6 children are there if their buddies feel lonely, sad or have fallen over.
The Year 6 children sat and chatted with their buddies and found out all about them. In the special service, at church, the year 6 children spoke fondly about their little buddies. They told us all about them and included: things they like doing, favourite colours and TV shows as well as whether they have siblings and who are there best friends.
The service ended when Mr Jones and Mr Shaw, retired governor and church warden, presented each of the children with a prayer cube, to help them learn The Lord's Prayer. We'd like to thank The Friends of St Helen's for purchasing the prayer cubes.
Thanks also got to Mr Longworth, Mrs Davies and Mr Burke for their hard work in preparing a lovely service.
