Safeguarding Children

Safeguarding Procedures in School

Guidance for Parents and Carers.
At St Helen's C.E. Primary School we see children's welfare as of paramount importance.  We are committed to working with parents and carers to ensure that our children have a happy, safe and good learning environment both at school and at home.
As a school we are committed to and have a legal duty to safeguard your child's welfare, as set out in the DfE document "Keeping Children Safe in Education" - September 2020.  We follow the model policies and protocols outlined by School Improvement Liverpool Safeguarding, Warrington's Safeguarding Children's Board and Salford's Safeguarding Children's Board in order to ensure the welfare of our children.   All members of staff in school are trained in the safeguarding of children and are committed to ensuring the safety of all of our children.
If the school is concerned about a child's welfare and if they are at risk of harm, we must legally look in to the matter and follow:
  • The law
  • Guidance from the Department for Education (Keeping Children Safe in Education - September 2020)
  • Local multi-agency child protection procedures.
Safeguarding is discussed at our weekly staff meeting.  If a member of staff is concerned that a child is at risk of suffering harm, they will report it to the senior member of staff responsible for child protection matters. Any concerns are followed up and acted on in an appropriate way to ensure the safety and well being of all our children.
